In the magical world of Hertelendy Castle, historical elegance, tranquility, and exclusive comfort come together in perfect harmony.
Located in Kozmapuszta – between Segesd and Kutas – this hidden gem lies 220 km from Budapest and only 50 km from Lake Balaton. Tucked away in the middle of nowhere, beyond space and time, Hertelendy Castle is a true escape from the outside world, where guests can fully immerse themselves in peace, harmony, and the beauty of nature.
Hertelendy Castle not only captivates with its stunning appearance, but also holds a unique and fascinating history.
It was built in the 1920s by Andor Hertelendy, a landowner from Somogy County, and completed in 1925. Due to financial reasons, the castle’s left wing was never constructed at the time. Nearly a century later, the current Swiss owner completed the building according to the original plans, restoring its intended form. Though the estate survived World War II, the Hertelendy family was forced to leave in 1951 during the era of forced relocations.
During the socialist era, the castle was taken over by the Kutasi State Farm and functioned as a youth construction camp in the 1970s and ’80s. Sadly, it fell into a state of disrepair. In 1997, Hungarian entrepreneur László Hagyánek purchased the estate and saved it from ruin. In 2004, it was acquired by its current Swiss architect owner, and in 2007, the castle opened its doors as a refined and exclusive retreat.
