Hertelendy Castle not only captivates with its stunning appearance, but also holds a unique and fascinating history.
The existence of the Kozmapuszta Castle is thanks to Andor Hertelendy, a landowner from Somogy, who envisioned and built the estate by 1925—excluding the left wing. The Castle survived World War II; however, in 1951, the Hertelendy family was forced to leave their home due to relocations during the communist era.
During socialism, the building was taken over by the Kutas State Farm, and in the 1970s and 1980s, it functioned as a summer work camp. Its condition deteriorated significantly over the years. In 1997, Hungarian entrepreneur László Hagyánek purchased the Castle and saved it from destruction. Since 2004, the property has been owned by a Swiss architect, who completed the renovation and constructed the previously unfinished left wing according to the Hertelendy family’s original plans. The estate officially opened its doors to guests in 2007.
